Historian Al Cormier Presents: The Forgotten French Acadians

On Sunday, October 13 at 2 PM, Historian Al Cormier will present a program called The Forgotten French Acadians. If you ever wondered where all the French family names came from in our local communities and along the Hudson River to Canada, this program will answer your questions. A film called "Expulsion, The Story of Acadia" will be shown. The film depicts the British expelling 10,000 French Acadian pioneers in 1755 from Acadia, today's Nova Scotia. Henry Wadsworth Hawthorn's story poem called "Evangeline" who is separated from her lover Gabriel by the British in 1755 remains a classic story of devotion and love.
